Marques Houston recently did an episode of TVOne’s Uncensored. The singer, television, and film star has been on our stages and screens since his youth. From his debut in Immature to his time on Sister, Sister, You Got Served and beyond. These days, Houston leads a much quieter life. The happily married father of one opened up about how he met his wife, Miya Dickey, who is 19 years younger than him. In the clip, he explains that they met through a mutual friend when she was only 17. Despite having a lot in common, Houston insists he waited till she was of legal age to engage with her, eventually marrying her at 19.
People on social media immediately called him out for what his decision to pursue relationship with the young lady. While many have questioned his marriage, it’s important to point out Marques Houston has dated women his age in the past. The singer has been linked to actress Jennifer Freeman who’s only four years younger than the singer. Other celebrity women he’s been connected to includes Meagan Good and Kim Kardashian, however we can not confirm those relationships.
Despite the growing backlash, Houston seems unfazed and has continued to post images of him and Miya. They recently attended a red carpet that he shared photos from with the caption, “Me and my wife @iammiyahouston on the red carpet last night for the #NoWayOut Screening!” He’s also shared photos of them and their baby Zara, with many fans supporting them in the comments. “I can’t believe people criticized yall … u make a beautiful couple and family, and your wife is grown!” said one woman.
Miya seems very happy on her own socials and frequently posts photos of herself on set working with Marques or out with her daughter enjoying the day. “Here’s a lil sneak peek into my life. 🫶🏽,” she said in her bio. The mommy of one is a makeup artists. Most recently she worked on a film called ‘The Stepmother 2’ now playing on Tubi. In addition, Miya is also a candle maker and brand ambassador for skincare line, Clean Skin Club.
While she’s not shy to share her world, we’re sure she does not appreciate her past being dug up. Miya is listed on several sites as a missing teen. She reportedly was taken away from her birth mother in 2012 and placed in the care of family members in Oregon. However, in 2016 they reported her missing. This information coupled with her relationship with Marques Houston had many fans side-eyeing the entire situation. Despite everyone’s opinion, Marques remains consistent with his story of waiting until Miya was an adult before pursuing anything other than a friend.
Miya posted a photo on IG where she preached kindness in the face of people “judging her” without knowing her story. “Stay kind and committed to love,” it read.
